About Spring

In the Hawaiian Wheel, as passed down to us by Kahu Kalani Souza, the Spring Equinox is correlated to the direction of East, the element of Earth, the concept of rebirth, the archetype of the Mother, and the 1st phase of water: Springs. This celestial event initiates the end of Makahiki and the beginning of Kauwela - the dry season in Hawai’i. A time for celebration and abundance as the seeds begin to grow and the Earth reawakens.

On this special day of a full moon lunar eclipse, we gather on the Eastern most point of the Hilo/Hamakua coast at the lands of the Dragon Heart amidst the springs and the ocean, in celebration of the rebirth of the earth as we honor Hina, the Mother Goddess of Abundance and the changing tides. We celebrate the day from sunrise to moonrise through prayers, chants, offerings, live music, art creation, cove dips and so much more…

Time: 6am-6pm
